Recreation Aide Full Time Introductory Cassadaga, NY JCC, Cassadaga, NY, US Salary Range: $17.66 To $17.66 Annually Position Title: Recreation Aide Classification: Non-Exempt Position Description Summary Responsible for carrying out specialty programs, such as performing arts and other clubs, athletic and other teams, and general recreation activities, in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Essential Functions Assists the Recreation Supervisor in planning, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program that will attract voluntary participation. Organizes and supervises student participation in a variety of recreation and vocation activities. Conducts recreation classes. Coordinates the new enrollee recreation orientation and RAP programs. Works with the Wellness Manager in implementing the weight-improvement program. Assists with the center’s creative arts programs. Instructs in a variety of specialty activities (e.g., drama, dance, music) and the clubs program. Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer fluency. Adheres to safety practices in all recreational activities, including water sports. Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center. Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property. Reports violations of ethical behavior. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requirements High school diploma or GED Two years of experience in recreation or physical education and in working with youth Certifications/Competencies Current CPR, First Aid, and water safety certifications Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions Strong organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer proficiency Minimum Eligibility Qualifications If position requires driving, a valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check Additional Information Other Duties This job description is not a comprehensive listing of all duties or responsibilities that are required for this position and may be updated.
